Robert Martineau

Robert Arnold Schürhoff Martineau (22 August 1913 – 28 June 1999) was a British bishop who was the first Bishop of Huntingdon and who was later translated to Blackburn.
Educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham,〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990, London, A & C Black, 1991, ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, he was ordained in 1938. His first post was as a curate at Melksham〔(Independent Obituary )〕 after which he was a World War II chaplain in the RAFVR.
When peace returned he became Vicar of Ovenden, Halifax, and then Allerton, Merseyside,〔Crockfords,(London, Church House 1975) ISBN 0-7151-8088-6〕 before his ordination to the episcopate.〔''Bishop Of Huntingdon'', ''The Times'', 18 October 1965; pg. 12; Issue 56451; col G〕
